What You Need To Start Keeping Hens
A Safe Hen house with vents. I prefer the wooden ones as it ventilates a lot better and also looks better in the garden. The house should be placed in a safe spot that is sheltered. It needs to lock securely so that predators can’t get in. Size wise, the bigger the better, the more space the hens have the happier they will be.
Feeders – that will dispense water and food.
Hay for the roosting area
Fenced in area or a run so that they can get out and explore every day
Feed – I have a mix of barley, seeds, and wheat
Bedding – the hens need something on the floor beneath them - pine shavings work best. They are cheap, easy for the hens to kick around, and do a good job of soaking up droppings and any water that escapes the feeder

I just have to have my eggs on display. When I first moved to the UK I found this basket in a shop in London. I love it and I thought you might too. I collect my own eggs from my Burford Browns in it every morning.
